An audit may be useful. It provides insight into your current mobile devices (type of devices managed, employees' personal devices connected to the IS …), type of infrastructure and services deployed (server topology, infrastructure organization, firewall level solutions used, encryption, procedures in place, messaging, connections: wireless, VPN, sharepoint…).
This phase includes examination of user functional requirements and the expectations of the IT manager. This step is critical to the success and credibility of the project. The trade-offs that will be made later depend on this taking place smoothly.
